This project focused on advancing comparative research on AI governance and intellectual property law in Southeast Asia. As part of the research activities, I conducted a research visit to Vietnam, where I delivered a presentation on current developments in AI governance and their interaction with IP law at Hanoi Law University. The presentation facilitated academic exchange on regulatory approaches to AI, data use, and innovation policy in both Japan and the broader international context.
In addition, I held meetings with the senior management of Hanoi Law University to explore opportunities for future institutional cooperation, including joint research initiatives, faculty exchange, and student engagement.
The visit also included discussions with representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice, as well as leading Vietnamese law firms, focusing on policy developments, regulatory challenges, and practical legal issues related to AI governance and intellectual property protection in Vietnam.
These activities contributed to strengthening academic and professional networks in Southeast Asia and provided valuable insights for ongoing comparative research on AI governance frameworks.
