研究成果概要
This research focused on the role of religious values in transitional politics in a post-conflict society and the impact on the durability of peace.
I argued about the role that religious values play differently in peacebuilding and the dynamism of piety throughout each phase of the process.  Based on the local practice in the southern Philippines, I selected some value indicators to illustrate the political dynamics of peacebuilding, defining the values by referencing Islamic Theology. I divided into practice and piety and applied each conflict-peacebuilding phase. This is also focused on the vertical relationship between the leaders or elites and ordinary grassroots people.
The initial findings were presented at the joint workshop of the British International Studies Association and the US-led International Studies Association on October 10-12, 2025, in Newcastle, UK. Unlike the typical large international annual conference in the US, the same scholars discussed each paper individually. It was an extraordinary finding, as all scholars wrote papers about religion and peacebuilding—12 scholars from both qualitative and quantitative methodologists, representing the US, UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, India, and Japan. Contextually, we could delve deeper and discuss the areas for improvement.
My writing and research methodologies are interdisciplinary, a unique approach that has not been explored by any scholar yet. I research like an ethnographer or anthropologist, but write a paper like a political scientist.  Therefore, I am still exploring a creative writing style. With some advice from my workshop colleagues, I identified areas where I can improve in the eyes of the political science discipline. I am currently updating the paper.
With these workshop colleagues, we have begun discussing the international joint research project for the role of religion in peacebuilding.
I appreciate this opportunity with the fund.
