This research was able to confirm the existence of a temperature limitation of surfactant-induced Marangoni convection by performing surface tension measurements, numerical simulations and constructing a dedicated experimental apparatus for recreating and visualizing the phenomenon in a temperature and pressure controlled environment. Results obtained for a 1-mm thick aqueous Lithium Bromide solution with initial 60% mass fraction 80 ppm of 1-Octanol demonstrates that the sorption enhancement related to Marangoni convection decreases by approximately 33% as the solution temperature increases from 30°C to 80°C. The outcomes of this research expands the limited theoretical and experimental understanding of the phenomenon and will be critical for developing advanced design of heat amplifiers and heat transformers operating in high temperature range.
