- The aim of the project is to examine the importance of the "Auserlesene Bibliothek der neuesten deutschen Litteratur" (trans. Selected library of the latest German literature), which was published in the northern German city of Lemgo from 1772 to 1780, as one of the most important scholarly journals of German Enlightenment and to name its hitherto unknown collaborators. On the one hand, this should enable a literary-historical classification and evaluation of the journal and, on the other hand, new impulses should be given through the content-related processing of the reviews and treatises on the reception research of important literary works. As I was able to find out, many well-known writers, theologians and scholars including Herder, Möser, Kleuker, Eichhorn, Hissmann, Erxleben, Walch, and Mauvillon, collaborated on the journal and discussed important contemporary works by Lessing, Wieland, Klopstock, Goethe, and Lenz, as well as philosophical works by Kant and Mendelssohn.
