- In this research project, we established an extension module for the industry sector in the current mainstream type of energy-economic modeling. We linked the energy system analysis framework (partial Integrated Assessment Models) with a macroeconomic analysis framework (Input-Output analysis) in order to reveal the role of the industry sector (especially material industries) in the decarbonization transition toward Japan's 2050 carbon neutrality goal.We presented this work (title: Material and energy demand from infrastructures in response to Japan’s decarbonization transition: Considering non-linear substitution elasticities) on ISIE 2022. We also received extended funding (JSPS 22K18070) to continue the investigation of industrial material/energy-service demand. We summarized the findings so far into 2 papers, which were currently under review.
