研究成果概要

Because a unique chance for collaboration between the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS) and Waseda University (WU), we have modified this project to: “Monitoring pathogenic oral bacteria by electronic device and wireless signal transfer”. The project is divided into three parts: 1) detection of changes in the impedance of an electronic conductor upon the deposition of bacteria; 2) wireless sensing of such impedance changes; 3) development of an in-vivo device that can allow the wireless detection of oral bacteria. In this project, NIMS provides oral pathogenic bacteria and expertise of handling them, while WU realizes the electrical sensing, as well as the design and fabrication of a device for wireless detection. In FY2022 the applicant has visited NIMS to learn the immobilization and handling technique of the targeted bacteria. Measurements of the impedance changes of electrodes were performed upon the deposition of bacteria. This project continues in FY2023.
