This research work investigates the applicability of polarization multiplexing to OAM (Orbital Angular Momentum) transmission which is expected to be a new candidate technology for the sixth-generation mobile communication systems (6G) aiming for realizing in 2030. Specifically, focusing on a useful property that OAM signals can apply polarization multiplexing in addition to mode multiplexing, we analytically evaluate the system capacity of UCA-OAM transmission with mode and polarization multiplexing in the presence of ground reflection. In our evaluation, we consider the influence of polarization on the reflected wave, which clarifies the necessity of equalizer at the receiver. The numerical results demonstrated that, in the case of vertical polarization, the adoption of high directional antenna instead of equalizer can improve the throughput compared with that of isotropic antenna because the impact of the reflected wave is smaller than that in the case of horizontal polarization. In contrast, assuming horizontal polarization, the inter-mode interference and inter-symbol interference become severe owing to a large impact of reflected wave, which indicates that the adoption of equalizer is required in addition to the directional antenna.
