研究成果概要

As we know, with the pandemic starting in 2020, most faculties had to move their teaching from face to face to online. But lots of them rarely know how to do it. It brought up lots of challenges for staff in the teaching and learning centers (FD centers in Japan) who have to support the remote /online teaching. Center staffs in Chinese universities made great efforts to explore and improve their practice. These exploration and efforts should be valued and shared, broadly impacting more staff and students.

I got the full vision of what center staff does to support online teaching in China and Japan by collecting documents from published papers, websites and attending seminars. Also, I interviewed the people who supported remote teaching in their universities and collected data from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shandong University, Fudan University, etc.

In terms of training content, the top 3 in China are how to use a platform for online teaching, how to make interactive classes and how to do design an online course. In terms of training style, the top 3 are online seminars, live training sessions, and Q&A sessions.

As part of the research project, one peer-reviewed paper (Problems and Causes in Japanese Higher Education during COVID-19: An Online Teaching Perspective )has been published in one top journal (Fudan Education Forum)in China.
