研究成果概要
Music is a social activity that can powerfully influence large groups of people. In the robotics field, several musical robots have been developed to play different kinds of instruments in order to provide entertainment experience comparable to human musicians. In this research, we aimed to model and reproduce human’s behavior of playing the instrument on the Waseda Anthropomorphic Saxophonist (WAS) robot, and build an interactive system for bidirectional musical human-robot interaction. During a high-quality musical performance, techniques like dynamics are used to give extra expressions to the music for emotional interaction. Since the WAS robot has been developed to play a typical alto saxophone with mechanisms similar to human players, we reproduce human’s behavior of playing the instrument by modeling musician’s motions. The system will be based on the following two parts for delivering expressive performance and analysis the emotional instructions from the music pieces.
