研究成果概要

This research projected proceeded largely as planned with the results of the work culminating in the release of a major update to AntConc (version 4.0) in December of 2021 that included numerous new features to support data-driven learning (DDL) writing support to second and foreign language learners in discipline-specific academic and workplace settings. The new version of AntConc facilitates the integrated learning and teaching of vocabulary, grammar, and effective discourse-level writing, and it can be utilized in the writing of research articles, technical documents, and various other genre texts. In particular, the new tool introduces a completely innovative way to view Word-In Context (KWIC) concordance lines, which is a core function of corpus linguistics research and DDL teaching that has remained largely unchanged for over 60 years. As planned, the results of the project were presented in various book chapters, international conference plenary talks, invited research seminars, and national and international conference presentations. These included plenary talks in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, and online, and a book chapter for the Routledge Handbook of Corpus Linguistics. The project was successfully completed in March of 2022.
