研究成果概要

This research focused on the assessment of a global FD program between Waseda University in Japan and the University of Washington in the US.

 We designed our questionnaire carefully based on the theory of program evaluation and the Kirkpatrick Model, which is frequently used in FD. The criteria employed in the questionnaire are learning (increase in the knowledge or skills of the participants), reactions (satisfaction of the participants), and aim (program intended goal). Also, open-ended questions were set. Self-report results from the participants show that our FD program fits the participants’ needs very well and has achieved the program’s aim.

(For participants’ needs:)

・All the participants were highly satisfied with the FD program and thought the content of this program would be useful in future improvements of courses.

(For the program aim:)

・Increases the desire to implement active learning

・Increases the desire to implement classes taught in English

・Gain in effective teaching methods

・Increase in confidence after implementing courses taught in English

・“A lot of communication” was frequently mentioned as a program benefit in the comments to the open-ended questions.
