During the course of this special topic research grant, I have pursued research on the concept of contemporaneity with a special focus on its relationship to the practice and theory of translation, on the one hand, and its implications to the hegemony of neoliberal ideology, on the other hand. My essay “Philosophy in quarantine (A filosofia em quarentena),” was published in Portuguese in September 2020 with Zazie Edições. In addition to this publication, two of my articles relating to this ongoing research appeared during the calendar year 2020: “The Long-Lasting Present: Art, Duration, and Contemporaneity” and “Mapping, Coding, Translating: Concrete Legacies in the Work of Detanico Lain.” My research on neoliberal thought conducted during this period resulted in a Kakenhi project proposal entitled “Neoliberalism and the Limits of Knowledge,” which was awarded a Kakenhi grant for the period from 2021 to 2023.
