A unique system that uses the total reactivity with ozone (RO3) has been developed for measuring biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) emitted from vegetation into the atmosphere. Recently, the sensitivity of the ozone monitor in the analyzer has been improved. In this study, additional observations and fundamental experiments were conducted as follows: (1) In 2019, observations of atmospheric RO3 in the forest were conducted intermittently on Aug. 1, 2, 4, 5, and continuously from Aug. 6 to 11. (2) Preliminary evaluation of the RO3 analyzer equipped with an enclosure was conducted for standard BVOCs samples like isoprene and simulated BVOCs samples emitted from a real plant, 'lemonthyme' in the enclosure. Consequently, it was confirmed experimentally that the RO3 system could be useful for ambient observation in the forest and for capturing the characteristics of BVOCs emission from plants.
