The issue of reconciliation is the extension of a practical problem that arises from the theoretical analysis of violence. The present research considered the theoretical implications that arise from the relationship that exists between perpetrators and victims. The main objective was to find a practical approach to the situations that emerge from complex social situations of violence. This necessity becomes apparent because by theoretically analyzing the relationship between perpetrators and victims, traditional theory dictated the existence power relation that to a certain extent inculpate the victim. Therefore, sociological theories of agency were applied to explore possible practical solutions to the problem of reconciliation. The understanding that sociological theories sheds on the freedom and constraints of individual actions and social structures provides a key understanding of how and to what extent accountability is distributed giving hope to reconciliation. As direct outcomes of the present research, one academic article is under review and a project proposal for community development is in preparation.
