- In order to establish an effective
fact-checking system in Japan, this year we conducted a survey and research on the
current situation of fact-checking system in Asia, especially in neighboring countries such as Korea
and Taiwan. In Korea, university (SNU), news organizations, and platformer
(NAVER) are working together to build a fact-checking system. In Taiwan, a
fact-checking system has been established by fact-checking organizations,
citizens, and platformer (LINE Taiwan). South Korea is characterized by
fact-checking done by journalists, while Taiwan is characterized by
fact-checking that involves citizen participation. Citizen participation is
also important in fact-checking in Indonesia and the Philippines. Fact-checking
in these countries mainly covers Dis- & Mis-information in the political
field as well as Dis- & Mis-information on SNS that are widely used in each
