研究成果概要

The researcher wrote one article and made some talks on games.

The article “Computer Shogi Tournaments and Techniques”, was coauthored by Tomoyuki Kaneko, the University of Tokyo, and published in IEEE Transactions on Games, Vol. 11, No.3, September 2019.  In the article, the researchers described two shogi competitions: World Computer Shogi Championship and Floodgate.  They also described major techniques used in computer shogi such as board representation and evaluation features, search, distributed search, and learning of evaluation functions.

The major talks were

(1) "Contemporary Computer Shogi (May 2019)", 42nd meeting of the Game Informatics Research Group, Information Processing Society of Japan (42nd GI, IPSJ) at Hokkaido University July 19-20, 2019.  In the paper, the researcher discussed contemporary computer shogi, especially how programs behaved at the 29th World Computer Shogi Championship, held in May 2019.

(2) "The History of the World Computer Shogi Championship (WCSC)(5)", 24th Game Programming Workshop 2019, at Hakone Seminar House, Kanagawa Prefecture, November 8-10, 2019.  In the paper, the researcher discussed the history of the Computer Shogi Championship and games between strong computer shogi programs and strong human players 2006 through 2010.

The researcher made some other talks on games in this period.
