The study examined how social networking is used by teachers and learners as a support for supplementary out-of-class vocabulary learning through Quizlet. Specifically, the study sought to examine the types of interaction that occur through social networking, and to explore how this may link to a methodology using these technologies.

There is a need to reconsider the ways in which social interaction tools can be used, ideally to promote social and cognitive aspects of teacher presence (see Lee, 2014), and whether this can link to enhanced task activity outside of the classroom.

Setting autonomy as an ultimate goal, although being extremely important, might also be seen as confusing for both teachers and learners themselves. As a result, a more attainable short-term goal would be thought to be encouraging learners to engage actively in tasks and activities not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom as well.
