Title : Novel molecular mechanisum regulating behavioral motivation

The brain synthesizes steroids de novo from cholesterol, which are called neurosteroids. Tsutsui discovered 7α-hydroxypregnenolone (7α-OH PREG) as a novel neurosteroid in vertebrates. This study demonstrated that 7α-OH PREG is involved in the increase of behavioral motivation and activity in vertebrates.
