- This study examines the dynamics of relations in regional industrial manufacturing sectors in modern Japan in the context of globalization. It analyzes the relations of porcelain manufacturing and distribution from the late 19th century to the early 20th century in Japan. It examines how the networks for manufacturing and distributing porcelains extended from the regional production sites to the national and global markets. It examines the regional differences in the process of manufacturing and distributing porcelains, including the major agents, strategies, and the source of funding. It also surveys how the pre-existing practices and relations shaped the ways of organizing resources for producing and distributing porcelains. The researcher surveyed the previous literature and did preliminary analysis of regions this year and presented papers in conference in Japan and in the United States.
