- 研究成果概要
This fiscal year I tackled the trolley problem from the viewpoint of philosophy of life and concluded that the trolley problem has its own unique problem, “the problem of the trolley problem.” I discussed five aspects of “the problem of the trolley problem;” that is to say, “Rarity,” “Inevitability,” “Safety Zone,” “Possibility of Becoming a Victim,” and “Lack of Perspective of the Dead Victims Who Were Deprived of Freedom of Choice,” in detail. Then, I argued that those who talk about the trolley problem are automatically placed in the sphere of the expectation of response on the spiritual level. I gave a presentation on this topic at the annual conference of Japanese Association on Applied Philosophy. A paper that fully discusses this topic is currently under review at a journal. Secondly, I wrote a paper on Viktor Frankl’s “Copernican Turn” on meaning in life in his book Man’s Search for Meaning (...trotzdem Ja sum Leben sagen). In his philosophy, meaning in life exists in the “responsibleness” of a human being who tries to answer questions asked by his irreplaceable life itself daily and hourly. It became clear that responsibleness is the true key to Frankl’s thoughts on meaning.
