研究成果概要
I conducted research on Asian diaspora at libraries in Madison, WI, USA.  I became interested in exploring intersections between literature and visual cultural productions through the theme of Asian diaspora, when I co-organized an international symposium on Asian diaspora and visual arts / literature with New York University’s Asian/Pacific/American Institute on July 1st, 2015 at Waseda University (main campus).  The symposium stimulated conversations on Japanese diasporic and transnational creative techniques, and we looked into connections and intersections between literary productions and visual cultural productions.  After the symposium, I traveled to the U.S. to examine interdisciplinary theories to explore the following questions that arose during the symposium.  How and where can we observe new connections and intersections between literary creations and visual cultural productions?  Thinking about these connections and intersections, how can we find new definitions and connotations of Asian diasporic cultural productions in the context of transcultural, transnational, and global mobilities?  How can we understand the concept and phenomenon of transcultural, transnational, and global mobilities through Asian diasporic cultural productions?  I obtained relevant books and articles to look into these questions.  This research has mainly led me to discover some connections between a Japanese Peruvian painter, Tilsa Tsuchiya, and a Japanese Peruvian poet, Jose Watanabe, which will be my next project.
